Résumé | Abstract

This paper examines Hausa oral songs as sustainable tools used to describe people’s characters and promote national integration, values and peace amongst Nigeriens. The song is selected from Youtoube, transcribed in Hausa, analyzed and translated into English language. Also, such a paper is grounded on a qualitative method, but both functionalist and interpretative approaches are employed to conduct it. As results, Mamane Barka, through his selected song “Amairam”, promotes social cohesion, intercultural marriages, national unity and peace as the reward of symbiosis living. However, such a song is used to discourage some vices such as regionalism, religious differences, ethnicity, jealousy to cite but a few. In sum, oral poetry is regarded as a vehicle for reinforcing symbiosis living in Niger Republic.
